Tips on how to Read and Learn Guitar Chords for the First Time – Part 2

Posted: June 11, 2011 in Learn Guitar Chords

When you’re trying to learn guitar chords it is critical to learn how to read chord diagrams first. To explain this to you, the guitar chord diagram has 6 vertical lines that represent the 6 strings. And also the lines of horizontal type show frets, other than for the top line which will be the head of the guitar.

You may come across these diagrams in almost any song handbook. The darkened dots (or full dots) that are present on the diagram instruct you on exactly what fret and string to place your fingers on. The white dots (or unfilled dots) tell you to play the open string, which means the string is strummed without being fingered on the fretboard.

There are also diagrams that show figures on the shaded dots. This indicates what finger to make use of in hitting a string. So figure one (1) is for your index finger, two (2) is for that center finger, three (3) is for the ring finger last but not least four (4) is for that pinkie fingertips.

Finally, you must at all times keep in mind that guitar chord diagrams are the key assets you need to allow you to study fresh new chords, chord advancement and also the rhythm aspects of music.

The potential to know the guitar chord diagrams doesn’t need the capacity to understand music notes. So be confident in knowing you can simply know how to play guitar, at least the fundamentals of it all, in a short length of time.

(That’s it for the second part of this guide to help you to learn guitar chords.)
